GUD Filters sponsor school bus for Open Air School

GUD Filters commitment to youth development was extended further in July by the sponsorship of a brand new Toyota Quantam to Open Air School. The 14 seater vehicle which will be used as a school bus is valued at over R300, 000.00 and has been specially modified with a ramp to assist learners with physical disabilities.

GUD Filters responded to Open Air Schools’ need for a school bus that was safe and reliable to transport physically challenged learners. The sponsorship forms part of G.U.D. Holdings (Pty) Ltd ongoing corporate social responsibility programme dedicated to the empowerment of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Open Air School situated in Glenwood, Durban, is a school dedicated to children from all over KwaZulu Natal with special disabilities. The school provides for the educational needs of children from pre-school to Grade 12 in line with the mainstream academic curriculum. Trained staff also offer daily medical care including various forms of therapy such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and counseling.

In 2011 G.U.D. Holdings (Pty) Ltd invested over R 1,500,000.00 for the education of disadvantaged learners from Zenzele Junior Primary, Christel House, and Fulton School for the Deaf among others in the form of scholarships and financial assistance for the operations of these schools.

The learners of Open Air School give their new school bus a thumbs up
