KZN South Coast mechanics welcome Filpro initiative
Local enterprise development company Filpro, supported by GUD Filters and NGK Spark Plugs were welcomed with great enthuasism by the mechanics from Umlazi and Isipingo, Kwazulu Natal. KZN Filpro project co-ordinator, Sbonelo Vilgazi, identified and classified 80 informal businesses from Umlazi and 35 informal mechanics from Isipingo who were invited to participate in a technical training session. The technical product training was held during 26-28 June 2012 at community halls in Umlazi and Isipingo. 194 mechanics attended the training were they received technical training on GUD filters and its various applications.
GUD National Sales Manager Rob Stone attended the training sessions to assist the mechanics with technical queries. At the end of the training each mechanic received a Filpro overall as a tool to help them with their business. The mechanics were very excited about the new initiative and appreciated the involvement of companies such as GUD Filters and NGK Spark Plugs to provide skills development. Basic business management training will follow as the next step in their development process.
The next Filpro training in KZN will take place in Folweni, Mbumbulu and Adams Mission.
